Since July 27th 2021, the COVID-19 situation in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, has taken a sharp turn for the worse. In just a few days, the production of medical waste in Yangzhou city has surged, overwhelming the safe collection and disposal capacities of medical waste in the city, posing greater risk of secondary infection by the day. As the only licensed medical waste disposal operator in Yangzhou, Yangzhou Tianying Plasma Technology Company Limited, a subsidiary of China Tianying, was also under great pressure in terms of the safe collection and disposal of medical waste.
【Rapid mobilisation and organisation of teams to go to Yangzhou】
China Tianying reacted quickly and prepared to mobilize its elite medical waste collection and disposal forces to offer assistance.
On the morning of August 1, under the guidance of the general policy of "helping Yangzhou at any cost", the "Mobilization Meeting for Yangzhou" was held at the headquarters by Jiangsu Tianying Urban Environmental Services, China Tianying’s subsidiary in charge of urban services.

42 people from various subsidiaries responded positively to the mobilization order and assembled into a rescue team at once.
On August 1st, the advance team went to Yangzhou.
On August 4th, the second team of China Tianying followed suit.

【Running 24/7 to ensure that medical waste is removed on a daily basis】
In addition to China Tianying's own forces, the site operators recruited through the labor company were also quickly put in place, and the backup team, including drivers, collectors and site support workers, were actively put under the command of the Yangzhou Ecological Environment Bureau and the deployment of Yangzhou Yangying. On August 10th, 7 medical waste transfer vehicles and 14 drivers and collectors from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment arrived in Yangzhou from Nanjing to join the Yangzhou team. By then, the Yangzhou work team had increased from 49 to 115, the number of medical waste transporters had reached 26, the average daily medical waste collection and transportation capacity had increased from 20 tonnes to over 60 tonnes, and the average daily medical waste disposal capacity increased from 15 tonnes to 40 tonnes.

As of around August 20th, the total amount of medical waste collected daily in the main city by Yangzhou Tianying had dropped from about 60 tonnes at its peak to about 40 tonnes, including medical waste from the three main sources: the isolation sites, nucleic acid testing and sampling sites as well as hospitals.

On August 5th, with no spare capacity to dispose of medical waste outside the main city of Yangzhou, the Jiangdu Waste-to-Energy Power Plant operated by Yangzhou Tianying Environmental Energy Co., Ltd. responded positively to the emergency plan of the Ecological Environment Bureau of Jiangdu District, Yangzhou City, and took up the task of disposing of medical waste in the whole district, and ushered in the early morning of August 6th the first medical waste transfer vehicle.

As of August 20th, the Tianying Jiangdu Waste-to-Energy Power Plant receives and disposes of about 10 tons of medical waste every day, together with Yangzhou Yangying in the main city, to ensure the timely and safe disposal of medical waste in Yangzhou.
【Consoling families to ensure that worries are eliminated】
In order to eliminate the frontline volunteers’ worries about their families, Lu Ping, Vice President of China Tingying and other leaders, went to each subsidiary to express their gratitude to the families of all the volunteers on behalf of the company headquarters.
Lu Ping expressed the company’s gratitude for the support they gave to the pandemic prevention and control, and asked about if they have any difficulties in their daily lives, and urged them to do a good job of self-protection and communicate with the company in case they needed any support.

6, 3, 2, 1, 0. These are the daily figures of new confirmed cases in Yangzhou since August 18th.
On August 23rd, a press conference on the prevention and control of the pandemic in Yangzhou City informed that there were no new confirmed local cases in the city on August 22. This is the first time since the local outbreak on July 27th that Yangzhou has achieved "zero new cases" in a single day. With the inflection point of the pandemic situation in Yangzhou, the city's prevention and control has achieved a milestone victory.
